Diet - It's Like Jumping in a Cold CreekHave you ever dove into cold creek on a mild and windy spring day? You think, "Rather than toe-tip into the water, I'll dive in because once there, my body will quickly adjust to the temperatures." And it does, until parts of your body become exposed to the nifty spring winds. You may have shocked your system into adjusting to the water temperature, but once you come out, the body's defenses kick in and you know, without a doubt, that you're so cold, you'd look good standing next to Paul's ox, Blue. Dieters think a lot along these lines. They run head long, jumping into the cold diet waters without even taking time to warm up for the swim - totally shocking the system and removing it from everything familiar. And once the waters get a little choppy and the dieters pokes out a head, the chill hits them and they may think, "What am I doing on this diet when there's a perfectly good cheese steak standing over there? Only an idiot would choke down rice cakes and tofu to take off a few pounds. So that's it. I quit! I don't wanna diet anymore. I am throwing in the diet towel," and then they walk away, dripping along the concrete walk of Diet Failure and into the arms of Comfort and Joy - i.e. cheese steak and all other 'good things familiar'.
How can you keep this circumstance from drowning your diet plan? Here are a few great tips: - Before jumping into the Diet High Sea, map out a diet PLAN. - Work up a back up plan - a safety net for your diet plan should a circumstance arise that may sink your diet. - Keep lots of healthy snacks on board for snack time. - Don't forget to bring along your life preserver. While dieting, you'll want to incorporate moderate activity which will speed up your weight loss while adding strength and endurance to your body. Activity is essential to good health BUT so is rest and relaxation. Here is where your life preserver will come in to help you fortify. Your life preserver may be a good book, time with a pet, or watching a fun movie. Relax, enjoy and have a safe time while out in Diet High Sea and stay alert for choppy weather.
