How Most Diets End

All things, whether good or bad, must come an end. In the area of diet, most all end with frenzied bingeing.

The dieter resists day after day, week after week, then suddenly snaps. That decadent brownie that was once so easy to resist has Dieter's X name written all over it. Tempting, swaying, aroma-wafting towards flared, hungry nostrils - until the dieter loses all common sense, the Brownie Urge drowning out that little warning voice that's ringing inside their head, "Stop! You can do this! Eat a rice cake instead!"

But does the Straying Dieter stop and pause after one brownie? Nay. After two? Nay nay. Five or six brownies later, there is a short pause, but only to collect milk. What about the diet?

What diet?

After the binge, the mind applies a Bandaid to the great crevice that erupted during that deranged Diet Moment which is defined in the Diet Dictionary as The Binge Pitfall. The Diet Ground cracks, the dieter eases down into the pit, and it instantly locks the dieter back into the Land of Milk and Honeybuns.  To the brain, the diet never existed. To acknowledge that a diet existed, acknowledges defeat. No one enjoys the feeling of defeat. It's the body's protective safeguard kicking in. It's not until a few weeks or months later when the dieter finally recalls, 'that last diet that didn't work'.

How can you avoid the Binge Pitfall? Willpower! Remember your goals; beef up your mental Diet Shield. Survive and let your diet live one more day. Then simply take things one day at a time.
