Yo Yo Dieting If you climb up a tree, you must climb
down the same tree. This quote is very reminiscent of the yo-yo dieter. The yo-yo dieter may climb a tiny way up the tree, to the middle of the tree, or even to the top of the tree. Once they arrive at their stopping position, they will climb back down the tree. So, what causes yo-yo dieting? Yo-yo dieting may occur because: - The desire to lose weight was influenced by outside factors. Even though the dieter wants to lose weight, the diet may have failed because (i) the dieter lacks the intensity to stay on their weight loss plan because the diet plan they chose may have been too intense in itself; (ii) the dieter felt like, 'What's the use? I am not going to succeed anyway!'; (iii) a national holiday rolled around OR a birthday that included a heavily-iced carrot cake. Diet & Weight Loss Solution: Carefully choose a diet plan that will fit personal needs. If the diet plan doesn't closely match the dieter's lifestyle, then a few modifications should be made in the diet plan. This may mean beefing up the calories in the diet plan, rearranging the types of recommended exercise and activity that is part of the chosen diet plan, or deleting some items that are not liked by the dieter from the diet plan.
